Is TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive a substitute for careful winter driving? What is TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive?
- TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive is a natural resin dissolved in isopropanol.
- When sprayed onto the tires, the isopropanol evaporates, cleans the tire tread of road grime, and then leaves a thin layer of resin on the tire surface, improving adhesion, road grip and mobility.
How thick is the resin layer and does it wear off?
- The resin layer is barely a millimeter thick and will gradually wear off during use - particularly so when driving back on bare pavement, so that under normal conditions steering characteristics are not affected.
- TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive has been shown to retain some of its effectiveness for up to 55.9 miles (90 kilometers) on snowbound road surfaces. Effectiveness wears off more quickly on rough, patchy ice and snow.
- No adverse effects have been observed in exhaustive testing by leading tire manufacturers.
Is TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive just for worn tires?
No. TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive works well on worn tires but newer tires also benefit from the extra tread.
- No, because eventually the resin will wear off.
Can TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive be applied the night before for use the next morning?
- Generally speaking, this is not advisable since freshly applied TA Tyre-Grip(tm) works much better.
How long does it take to work?
- It takes approximately 1-3 minutes, depending upon weather and road conditions, and particularly air temperature. However, the process can be accelerated by briefly spinning the tires before carefully driving off.
Should I spray all four tires?
- Rear and four wheel drive cars should have all four tires sprayed. Front wheel drive cars need only the front tires sprayed (except in especially severe conditions when all four tires should be sprayed).
How long is a spray can likely to last?
- One can will give up to 20 applications on front wheel drive cars and 10 applications on rear or four wheel drive cars.
How much is road grip increased?
- By an amazing three times normal on wet (or black) ice at around +3 degrees celcius -- when road conditions are the most slippery!
What is the shelf life of a can of TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive?
- A can will last indefinitely, provided it is not kept in a damp atmosphere and allowed to corrode from the outside in.
Is TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive harmful to car paint or bodywork?
- No. Being a natural resin product, it is non-corrosive and does not have any harmful effects in this respect.
Are the aerosol propellants harmful to the environment in any way?
- TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive uses only ozone friendly gasses as propellants.
Has the product been independently tested and proven?
- Yes. The Norwegian State Technological Institute's Motoring Division carried out a series of tests under harsh and varied winter conditions during 1985/86. Their results showed that TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive provided a considerably improved road grip, as confirmed in our "Cold Facts" summary of their report. Additional satisfactory tests have been carried out by other governmental departments and agencies in the 12 European countries where it is now sold.
What other uses does TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive have?
- The product is also recommended for use on motorbike and bicycle tires. TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive may also be applied to rubber boots or rubber soled shoes for safer walking on snow or ice.
What if I accidentally get some of the solution on my hands?
- Immediately wipe off with a soft rag or tissue dipped in methylated spirits or some other similar commercial solvent.
It works over in Norway, but will it work here in the United States?
- Yes. This was convincingly demonstrated by the Tomorrow's World Team in November 1987 when Peter McCann successfully drove a car treated with TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive around the Oxford "Ice Rink" without skidding!
Why is TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive regarded as one of the "top" new winter products?
- Because many years of careful research have gone into formulating just the right blend of natural resins. This blend remains stable and effective in solution at all temperatures.
Is TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive a serious road safety product?
- Yes, as was demonstrated at the famous Road Safety Exhibition "EURO-SAFE 88" held in London's prestigious Guildhall. The use of TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive will help to reduce the number of accidents and deaths caused every winter by the sudden lack of adhesion on slippery ice and snow covered roads.
In what other countries is TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive now sold?
- It is sold in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Holland, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, Greece and Japan, and it is now available in the USA and Canada.
When is TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive most likely to come in handy?
- TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive is particularly helpful on hills, when leaving and entering driveways and garages, and when driving from or onto untreated side roads.
Is TA Tyre-Grip(tm) Adhesive a substitute for careful winter driving?
- Nothing can act as a substitute for careful use of the brakes, accelerator, clutch and steering wheel -- but TA Tyre-Grip(tm) can play an important role in improving road grip in difficult conditions.
