Video Adventure for the Kitties
Felines are fascinated
By Terry Nagel
Except for the amusing antics of the family you allow to live with you and hair-raising trips to the vet, your life is pretty boring.
If you're a sensitive cat owner concerned about your kitty's ennui, you can buy him the "Cat Adventure Video," which promises 60 minutes of vicarious pleasure for household felines..
The video shows birds fluttering in a forest, mice crawling all over one another, tropical fish swimming in an aquarium, squirrels munching on nuts and more.
The instructions are simple: Just place your cat at eye level in front of the TV screen in a darkened room. But will this video turn your kitty into a couch potato? ORDER THIS VIDEO |

I tested the video on two cats: my lethargic 13-year-old outdoor tabby, Bluebell, and my mother's frisky 2-year-old indoor cat, Lily.
Bluebell, A gigantic gray-striped cat who was subjected to doll-carriage rides and science experiments in his kitten hood by my children, prefers a warm patch of sun to any activity. Once he's settle for a nap, he seldom opens an eye.
When our family played the video on our big-screen TV as he napped on the sofa five feet away, he barely stirred. Apparently, the image was too large for him to recognize. But when we showed it too him on the smaller TV in a bedroom, he perked up when he heard a cat's cry on the video, then batted the birds and mice on the screen with his paw.
Young Lily had never shown an interest in television before. But she, too, was mesmerized by the mice squirming on the screen jsut inches from her nose.
The cat's rating: two paws up.
The video is one of four sold by Phil Gary Enterprise USA of Columbus, Ohio. The others are the six-hour "Incredible Aquarium Video," which turns your TV int an aquarium filed with more than 100 exotic fish and sea creatures; the six hour "Deluxe Ultimate Fireplace Video," which provides the look and crackles of a wood-burning fire (without the warmth and smell, however); and "Pigaro," 50 minutes of pigs in all sizes, with names like Mud-Donna and Muddy Holly, perForming tricks, wearing costumes and racing.
Not boring at all. | |
